Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) est un ancien policier qui se caractérise par causer plus de problèmes qu'il n'en résout. Il vient de sortir de prison et son ancien entraîneur de boxe Henry Cimoli (Alan Arkin) le convainc de s'allier avec Hawk (Winston Duke), un aspirant combattant très prometteur.
